Her patients vary, encompassing non-traditional families, traditional families, and transitioning young adults. Dr. Ames does not believe in treating patients as a diagnosis alone. She seeks to treat the human condition as a whole, keeping considerations of the diversity and nuance of the social world, the context of life, love, relationships, and individual circumstances in the foreground of her approach.
