​A Licensed Professional Counselor with a variety of professional and relatable life experiences. Denise is equipped with a mission to help clients identify presenting issues, clarify goals, and assist to map out objectives within a treatment plan. Meeting the client where they are at is an excellent starting point within the all-important therapeutic alliance. An expert in rapport building, Denise utilizing empathic listening, and asking of open-ended questions to gently encourage clients to trust the therapeutic process. Creating constructive changes through self-awareness, positive regard and an environment free of judgement is her focus. Denise values the privilege to work collaboratively with children, adolescents and adults to attain successful outcomes in areas of life transitions, relationship issues, anxiety, depression, grief and loss, anger management, and domestic violence. Theoretical orientation is an eclectic approach, with emphasis on Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy and mindfulness training. Professional attention includes facilitation of support groups in bereavement, parenting, art therapy and play therapy for children. Master of Arts degree in Community Mental Health Counseling from Oakland University (CACREP accredited program). Member of National Board for Certified Counselors (NBCC).
